Jan Philipp Kuhnert is a photographer, yoga teacher and artist living in Berlin. Before moving to Berlin, he lived in Hamburg, Reutlingen, Beijing (China), Kaohsiung (Taiwan) and Berlin.
He started with photography, when he was around 14 years hold. After being educated in film photography by his former art teacher, his interested began to switch to black and white film photography. He continued to work in a darkroom and developing film at home. Currently, he shoots a mix of digital and film, preferably in black and white.
His photography can be described as a fusion of street- and documentary photography. After a trip to Porto and Lisbon in 2019, he published his first magazine called "A vida portuguesa". His second magazine "Auszeit" will be published by end of summer 2021.
In 2023 he expanded his interest to sports photography. His work remains to be heavily influenced by a documentary style.
